    A top choice for training, racing and recreational skiing, our recently rejuvenated trails provide our athletes with easy access to regular quality skiing and a longer season, but also transform into an equally lauded XC running venue throughout the dryland season.

    Over 100 athletes come to LCS for our annual LCS Nordic Ski Invitational and LCS XC Running Invitational races, enjoying our trail network and facilities in fun and challenging competitive events for elementary, secondary and club-system athletes.

    Our culture of skiing at LCS has brought together staff and students of all abilities and from all areas of the School to learn to ski, to exercise, to have fun in the snow, and to race. Cross country skiing is taught in our Outdoor Education classes, our entire community helps support our races and athletes, and many of our staff and students can be found enjoying our groomed trails on their own time throughout the winter.

Nordic skiing at LCS provides opportunities for everyone.

Our development team offers a place for anyone interested in Nordic ski racing, regardless of experience. While our competitive team challenges all Nordic ski racers to commit to excellence in daily training and in competition against other secondary schools across Ontario. Our high-performance team takes Nordic skiers to the next level through access to more high-level, year-round training and coaching, and support for Ontario Cup and National racing through the club system.

While we travel throughout Ontario to train and compete at a variety of venues and make use of the 46 km of trails around the corner at Kawartha Nordic, nothing compares to our own spectacular five-kilometer racing trail on campus.

    Lakefield is thrilled with its new 900M sprint course, a fabulous addition to its existing 5km of groomed trails. Beginner or not, we could scarcely distract our Nordic skiers from their constant desire to throw themselves at this fun, new challenge.
