Maryam Monsef Visits LCS

By Rory Gilfillan

This past Tuesday, Maryam Monsef addressed the Grade 9 and 10 civics class.  Ms. Monsef came to the Peterborough area from Afghanistan as a teenager.  She attended PCVS and later, graduated from Trent University.  Ms. Monsef was also a contender in the recent Peterborough Mayoral race, finishing a close second behind incumbent Daryl Bennet.  Ms. Monsef shared the powerful story of her family, her immigration to Canada, and her desire to help build a kinder and more compassionate nation in her campaign to represent the Liberal Party of Canada in the next federal election.
