Exploring the Local Area

The Grade 11s spent two days immersed in a community driven orientation focused on the citizenship pillar from the Grade 11 Leadership, Character and Values program.

Monday, September 12 began with a morning of 'Getting to Know You' games that pushed new and returning students to learn each others names and work together as a team.  The afternoon was spent touring through the community of Lakefield to help raise money for Big Brothers Big Sister through a community Bottle Drive.  They helped raise $325 this year through their contributions. The day ended with a bang at Sky Zone Trampoline Park where the Grade 11 burned off the remaining energy they had from their first day of orientation.

On Tuesday, September 13, the Grade 11s travelled to Peterborough and spent the day on the transit system where they saw local attractions and picked up bike accessories during the Bike Build Scavenger Hunt for the Peterborough Big Brother Big Sister organization. The afternoon culminated with an emotional hand bike donation to the little brothers and sisters from Peterborough. The evening was spent celebrating the accomplishments from our two-day orientation at Market Hall with a great dinner and dance.
