Round Square
LCS is proud to have been the first Canadian member of Round Square.
In keeping with the educational philosophy of its founder, Round Square holds at its core six IDEALS, which stand for: Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service. Every year in the fall, the annual Round Square International Conference brings together delegates from member schools for a week-long series of guest speakers, excursions, adventure and cultural activities, and discussion groups. Thise annual International Conference (along with Pre- or Post-Conference excursions) provides a wonderful opportunity for LCS students to get to know and work with other young people from around the world.In addition to attending past international conferences in Germany, Kenya, Australia, Scotland, the U.S. and India, student delegates from Lakefield also regularly attend the Round Square Americas Regional Conferences in the spring - hosted annually by one of the Round Square member schools in North or South America. Participation in Round Square conferences and service projects truly helps to instil an international perspective in our student body.

A Year Abroad
Membership in Round Square also affords our graduating students the opportunity to act as teaching assistants at some of our sister schools, if they decide to opt for a gap year between high school and university. For more information about gap year opportunities, please contact Kirsten Johnston, Director of Guidance and Learning. -
LCS Commitments
All Round Square schools fundraise and pledge for The Prince Alexander Fund. This money is used to sponsor service projects that are sanctioned by Round Square, and provides the building materials for such undertakings. Lakefield College School students are very active in such projects and we commit to raising a minimum of $1,000 annually for this fund.
In addition, we also make financial contributions to charities affiliated with the other projects in which our students participate, such as the Baan Laem Tong Community Centre Project Fund (Ko Phi Phi Island, Thailand) and Free the Children. The latter is the charity with whom we partner (e.g. in Kenya, China, and Ecuador) when our students help with building schools in these countries.
