Chinese New Year

By Jen Horrigan

Monday, February 8 may have seemed like a normal Monday, but here at LCS it was a chance to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Led by our international student community and the supportive Aramark staff the dining hall was transformed into a New Year's party complete with symbolic foods.

The Year of the Monkey was rung in with great style while students feasted on noodles, egg rolls , oranges, dumplings, sweet and sour pork and tofu.  These foods not only tasted great but also represent the chance to set the tone for the new year.  Tradition states that eating these foods will bring a long life, wealth, fertility and other good fortunes.  All students got a taste of some traditional Chinese candies, fun and tasty bubble tea and entertaining fortune cookies.

Whether you were involved with decorating the dining hall (which looked spectacular), preparing food, serving the delicious fare or simply enjoying the festive atmosphere fun was had by all and a reminder how luck we are to get to celebrate so many wonderful traditions from around the world.
