1st Boys’ Hockey
Returning to Montreal for the annual Selwyn House High School Hockey Tournament, Lakefield College School's 1st Boys Hockey Team opened its season with a confident and hardworking 3 - 1 win against Heritage Comprehensive High School from Brossard, Quebec.

Opening the scoring was senior Justin Gallant, who buried the puck over the goal line just 22 seconds into the opening frame.  It was a goal that represented the hard work and puck pressure that could be the marker of this year's team.  Later in the period, Joe Gennaro scored on the power play, with a lovely feed from Quinn MacMillan and Zach Masciangelo.

LCS dressed and played three goaltenders - senior Neven Ferguson and Grade 11s Antoine Rapp and Jack Campbell.  All three were very impressive, especially when the LCS boys got into some penalty trouble.

In the third period, on a scrambled play, caused by slushy ice conditions, allowed Heritage to close within one goal.  But on the very next shift, Tristan Walsh, supported by Paras Cheema strong net drive, buried the puck to provide the boys in red and green the insurance marker they needed.

Facing the hometown hosts in the tournament semi-final, LCS fell 5-0 to Selwyn House.

Struggling to control their opponent's aggressive forechecking, the boys of LCS never really found their game.  However, their work ethic and determination never ever declined as the team in red and green battled for every inch of ice until the final whistle.

Lakefield now has a week off to prepare for their CISAA league opener at TCS on Saturday, December 10.

1st Boys’ Basketball
This past Wednesday, the LCS 1st Boys’ Basketball team hosted Holy Trinity School for a great home-opener. The boys played well in their first game together as a team. Each point was hard earned on both sides making for a very exciting game to watch and an exhausting one for the boys to play. The score flip flopped between the two with there never being more then 8 points between the teams. There were some outstanding performances by Andrew Maltman, Ali Attyani, Ross Hutchinson and Eli Shannon but as a whole the team left their guts on the floor. In the end they came up short by five points but it was a great first game that they can build on for the rest of the season.
