Ask Good Questions. Try Your Best. Be Kind.

List of 3 items.

  • Ask Good Questions

Our community is coming together in unprecedented ways to ensure students are supported and encouraged by teachers, coaches, Heads of House, advisors, and, most important, each other. Reach out regularly through Edsby, email or Zoom. Use your support network, ask good questions and share your feedback often.
  • Try Your Best.

We know that every member of our community copes with challenges and changes in a variety of different ways. Learning in this remote way is different. All we ask is that you try your best. There are many resources available to help you along the way. We will continue to offer access to Learning Support, Guidance, Wellness, Counseling and IS Support.
  • Be Kind.

Our Healthy, Caring Community value reminds us to recognize the dignity and worth of all individuals. We embrace diversity; we encourage empathy, acceptance and a balanced lifestyle. Exercise kindness wherever you can. Only together can we create a caring community.

Health and Wellbeing: Good Habits and Practices to THRIVE

Continue to develop the habits and practices needed for good mental health that we encourage when you are here on campus at Lakefield College School. The principles of THRIVE are based on 3 pillars: Physical Well-being, Positive Psychology and Lifelong Habits. These good habits and practices will help to strengthen your mental health and improve your ability to focus, remember, and process information, contributing to better academic performance and overall sense of wellbeing.

List of 3 items.

  • Physical & Mental Wellbeing

To live by the school motto: mens sana incorpore sanoa healthy mind in a healthy body, it’s important that you continue to take good care of yourself: be active; move often; eat well; sleep well; make time to get outside, move and connect with nature; and be mindful of how you are feeling and thinking.
  • Positive Psychology

Use this list of daily actions you can take to improve your wellbeing and increase positive emotions: Practice gratitude by taking time to observe, savour and reflect upon things for which you are grateful; Ensure daily connections with friends and family; Practice yoga or meditation; Identify one good thing at the end of each day (even better if you can share that with someone).
  • Lifelong Habits

An extension of taking care of yourself is taking care of your community. How are you thinking of others and how can you reach out and connect to others who can use your support? Do you feel like you need support, yourself, to get going? If you have any questions about how to get started practicing good habits to help you thrive, please reach out to one of your teachers, your advisor or the team at The Wellbeing Centre.
