It has been an exciting finish to the spring athletic season at Lakefield College School, with Grove athletes earning championship medals, undefeated titles, and spots at upcoming provincial competitions.
On the tennis courts, the Junior Boys Tennis team captured CISAA silver at Championships after a strong showing throughout the season. Max ’28 and Paul ’28 led the way by winning gold in the First Doubles division, while Santi ’28 earned silver in the Second Singles division. The success continued on the girls’ side as Keeva ’27 and Kiki ’28 battled their way to a CISAA silver medal in the Second Girls Doubles division.
On the rugby pitch, 1st Girls Rugby completed a remarkable undefeated season, finishing with CISAA gold at their final tournament of the year hosted at Ridley College.
At home, Junior Ultimate also capped off an incredible season with an undefeated record, bringing home CISAA gold after a dominant spring campaign.
In badminton, Melody ’26 delivered an impressive performance at Championships, earning CISAA silver in the First Girls Singles division.
Track and field athletes also continued to impress. Coco ’28 secured a second-place finish in javelin, while Humphrey ’26 earned third in shot put. Both athletes have now qualified for Metros next Thursday.
While several seasons are wrapping up, Grove Athletics still has important competition ahead. This Saturday, both boys rugby teams will take on St. Pete’s. On Sunday, 1st Rowing will compete at the Peterborough City Regatta before select crews advance to the Canadian High School Championships on June 5. Meanwhile, 1st Girls Soccer is preparing for one of the biggest events of its season as the team gets ready to compete at OFSAA Soccer beginning June 4.
