Dancing for the Judges

By Rachel Bemrose

On Tuesday, April 2 the LCS Dance Company travelled to Milton to participate in the Strive Dance Challenge.

It was an extremely successful day for our dance team. Our dancers were recognized with 5 special awards from the judges—including awards for their masterful ability to tell important, difficult stories, their creative and clean choreography and their ability to entertain, have fun and show their love of dance.

We received 10 Diamond awards (scores over 93), and Growing Up in A Girls Perspective (choreographed by Grade 11 student Sierra Gibb) received an Ultimate Diamond (score of over 95) and the second highest small group mark of the entire competition. Taryn Walsh, Grade 11, was one of only three dancers chosen from all schools who received a scholarship valued at over $1,000 for training at Disney World.

The coaches were unbelievably proud of the students effort and performances. We all felt they were the best we had seen all season. We were even more impressed and proud of the way they represented LCS and the joy they were to coach.

Congratulations to all the dancers on an amazing season and huge shout out to Laura Pede, Clara Mindjimba, Ella Shanahan-Guay and Romano Watt for being such incredible captains!
