Going Grove!

As the Grade 12 class looks towards Closing and graduating in a few weeks, the Advancement Department held a special dinner, the Going Grove Advancement Dinner, in their honour to celebrate their transition to their new roles as LCS alumni. The grads came together on Monday night under a tent in Hadden Hall courtyard to mingle with staff and alumni, and to hear about what their LCS world looks like after graduating on June 15.

Grove Society: Alumni Chapter President, Tim Bell ‘00 was on hand to speak to the class about how graduating from LCS has changed his life in many various aspects and to explain about the Grove Society. Sarah McMahon spoke about how bonds, as a class, with other alumni and with the Advancement Department, will grow and strengthen. Although The Grove may change physically in upcoming years, the atmosphere and the connections will still remain. Our Seniors-in-Charge of Communications, Sophia Gabbani and Jesse Sarkis, then announced the new Class of 2013 Grade Reps who will keep their class in contact with the school – Andrew Little and Jillian Scates!

Our SICs came up with a fun activity for each table to do throughout the evening - write an eight line "Grovey" poem.  There were some real stand out poems, with the winning poem being delivered in three languages, English, French and German.  The Class of 2013 had a wonderful time, and is happy to continue this traditional dinner. Thank you to Sophia, Jesse and everyone who participated for making this a night to remember!

It was great to see an alumnus/a at each table to share their experiences since leaving The Grove. Thank you to those who were able to attend – Tim Bell ’00, Adam Bishop ’04, Zoe Edwards ’09, Brendan Fell ’04, Jon Holmes ‘97, Jen Horrigan ’99, Kelsey Ingram ’04, Andrew Johnston ’95, Jordan Muise ’08, Andrew Parke ‘03, Sean Quinn ’82, John Ryder ’77, Lauren Schumacher ’08, Leslie Schumacher ’06, Lianne Schumacher ’05, Shane Smyth ‘96 and Stephanie Wilcox ’03. And thank you to all the staff members who were able to attend as well.
