Gladiator Showdown

On Thursday, May 31, the annual Gladiator Day competition was held. Despite the cloudy skies and rain threatening to pour down, the students had a great time participating in events around campus.

The day began with a deafening cheer off pep rally in the McEwen Gymnasium, followed by the fan-favourite chariot race, which saw Lefevre House dominate all the race events to begin the day.

During the rotation portion of the day the students moved through four events, stones (a capture the flag-esq game), slide ’n pong, beach volleyball, and the watermelon relay, students had to paddle on an air mattress to a marker on the lake, complete various activities and carry a watermelon on an upside down canoe. The team with the most intact watermelon won. All the students then headed to The Grove for the Tug of war challenge. The teams took turns cheering each other on with a few epic battles between paper house teams.

Finally, the day ended with the highly anticipated gladiator jousting challenge. One member from each Paper House team stood on floating platforms in the lake. The goal was to knock each other off the platform using a jousting pole. It got wet, and it got wild.

The day was amazing and everyone had a BLAST!
