Orientation Essentials
Grade 11
The Grade 11 Orientation will introduce students to each other and to the Leadership, Character and Values program pillar for Grade 11 – citizenship.  The Grade 11 orientation is designed to facilitate the students' understanding and appreciation of what it means to be involved citizens of The Grove and of the greater community, and what it means to be contributing, engaged citizens. 

Orientation Schedule

  • Tuesday, September 5 - Day Student Registration

    4:00 - 5:00 p.m.






    • Check-in at theatre lobby to pick up nametag and welcome package
    • Final check for all administrative forms
    • Meet with Academic Advisor to receive academic timetable
    • Pick up lock and locker assignment
    • New students pick up laptops
    5:00 - 5:30 p.m.                
     


    • Parents of new day students to theatre
      for information session about communication with LCS and reception
  • Sunday, September 10 - Boarding Registration

    12:00 - 2:30 p.m.

    *We urge families to respect our schedule and 
    not arrive prior to 12:00 p.m.







    • Check-in at theatre lobby to pick up housing assignment, nametag and welcome package
    • Final check for all administrative forms
    • Move into residence
    • Pick up uniform if shipped to the school.
    • Top Marks is available for returns and delivery of prior orders, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
    • Meet with Academic Advisor to receive academic timetable
    • Laptop distribution for new students and locker assignments
    • Brunch is available from 11:45 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

    • Student and parent farewells!

  • Monday, September 11

    On Monday morning, students will head to Northcote Campus (just north of the main LCS campus) to engage in a progression of leadership activities designed to connect with one another, foster teamwork and encourage problem solving. In the afternoon, students will be involved in a competition to engage as an active citizen and make a contribution to the school campus.

  • Tuesday, September 12

    On Tuesday, the group will head to Peterborough for an adventure that will take students throughout the downtown core of Peterborough to support local businesses. Students will connect with various not-for-profit agencies in the local community. Throughout this orientation there will be learning as well as time for new and returning students to get to know one other and to make new friends.

Important Notes

  • All students must be in proper classroom dress on Tuesday, September 12 for the first day of classes.
  • All students need indoor athletic shoes (indoor court shoe or running shoes are fine) for Orientation programming as these shoes must be worn for events in the gym.

    • Outdoor Clothing - appropriate for weather conditions (rain gear if needed)
    • Running or outdoor shoes
    • Indoor shoes (for activities in the gym)

    • Bathing suit clothes that can get wet and towel (for swim test)
  • What not to bring

    • Snack food containing nuts or nut products
    • Electronics (iPad, speakers, etc.)
    • Valuables (money, jewellery)
