Drama & Dance

Drama at LCS

Lakefield College School presents major dramatic productions each year in the fall and spring terms. A staff member directs the performance while students do the acting and the bulk of the production and technical work. Lakefield students, parents, family members, and people from the broader community attend performances.

All plays are open to any students in the school, through auditions. Many students work "behind the scenes" and learn valuable skills through technical and production work as well as being on the stage!

Variety is a hallmark of LCS productions. Recent years have showcased comedies, dramas, love stories, musicals and Shakespearean productions. Some of the plays have included A Play On Words, Cabaret, Our Country’s Good, Romeo and Juliet, The Dining Room, Little Shop of Horrors, Twelfth Night, Book of Days, The Farm Show, Girls in the Gang, The Man Who Came To Dinner and Grease.

Dance at LCS

The Dance program provides students with the opportunity to be exposed to and experiment with a variety of creative movements and dance forms.

The program is offered in the late fall and winter terms, culminating in a Dance Showcase for students, parents and friends before March Break. Students in the program have a great deal of input into the showcase, and a special highlight is the cultural influence, reflecting the performer's countries of origin.

LCS dancers also participate in the Conference of Independent Schools Dance Showcase.  In 2009, our LCS dancers tied for first place for a piece they choreographed themselves entitled "Welcome to the 60s," in which all of 22 dancers were involved.
