The LCS Health Centre is staffed by nurses who are available 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Our visiting doctors and school social worker are available to see students in the Health Centre by appointment only. Physiotherapists, sports specialists, dentists, orthodontists, optometrists and other health care professionals are also available locally for consultation and referral. The Peterborough Regional Health Centre (hospital) is 20 minutes away.
The Health Centre has 6 beds, a doctor’s examination room, a nursing treatment room and a private counselling office located next door to the Health Centre.
The nursing office is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturdays from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. (for medication administration); then 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sundays 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A nurse is on-call for emergencies during "closed" clinic hours, both weekdays and weekends.
Prescription medication must be distributed by Health Centre Staff. All current medications must be delivered to the Health Centre on Registration Day. To ensure the safety and well-being of all students, prescriptions ordered by our school physicians will be delivered directly to the Health Centre for distribution.
Students and their parent(s)/guardian(s) are required to update Health Centre staff if there are any new or significant changes to their health and/or treatment plan, throughout the school year.
