At the Winter Co-Curricular Celebration this week, Max Brandes ’19 shared "When we started these programs, there was no snow on the ground - and throughout the term we have seen snow on the ground, ice on the ground, last minute changes and lots of excitement.”
Last week through heavy snow, the LCS Nordic Team travelled to Duntroon, Ontario, for the OFSAA 2019 Championships. For many of our skiers, this was their first year skiing, as well as their first OFSAA event.
"Going on an exchange had been my dream ever since I was in Grade 9, as that first week went by I fell in love with Germany. I met the most incredible people and I soon realized how fortunate and grateful I was to have an opportunity to be there."
"My advice to other students is that if you are considering applying for an exchange, do it. There are no negatives to stepping outside your comfort zone in this way. The best way to learn about a different culture is probably through an exchange, because you get dropped right in the middle of another school and culture for up to three months."
We are very proud to announce that LCS is the first Canadian independent boarding school member of Global Online Academy (GOA), a consortium of leading independent schools from around the world whose programs offer our students a way to pursue their passions, learn with peers from around the globe, and acquire and practice modern learning skills that will serve them well in university, career and life.
If you take a walk through Upper Hadden Hall you will note that the Hall of Nations continues to grow into a colourful and meaningful representation of our LCS community. December and January have offered many opportunities to celebrate culture at LCS.
We continually search for a key; something that creates a spark and turns it into a fire. It’s a fine line. A yin and yang between hoping young adults find this passion of their own accord, and trying to facilitate it within educational structures.
