Proud to be the First Canadian Independent Boarding School Member of Global Online Academy
We are very proud to announce that LCS is the first Canadian independent boarding school member of Global Online Academy (GOA), a consortium of leading independent schools from around the world whose programs offer our students a way to pursue their passions, learn with peers from around the globe, and acquire and practice modern learning skills that will serve them well in university, career and life.
GOA courses are our courses, led by experienced and passionate faculty from renowned peer member schools all over the world. This is a new kind of online class in which relationships and connections drive students to share their perspectives and learn from those of others.
Global Online Academy member schools
There are more than 70 high-performing independent schools in the consortium, representing four continents, four countries and more than 20 states. All GOA courses are taught by teachers who are currently teaching at a GOA member school.
About Global Online Academy courses and teachers
This coming September, LCS students will have the opportunity to explore a greater range of choices in grades 11 and 12. Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you could take one of the following courses in high school?
Computer Game Design and Development
Options, like these, will be available to our students who take a GOA course for credit at Lakefield College School. GOA course workload and course intensity is equivalent to courses taken on our campus. Students collaborate on challenging and interesting projects with other students from around the world. They are also expected to manage their workload and time effectively to support the asynchronous nature of the courses.
GOA builds on the best practices and values of our consortium of leading independent schools and ensures classrooms stay at a small size that fosters strong teacher-student relationships and student-to-student collaboration and interaction.
