A Sleigh Surprise

Did you know LCS is rumoured to have the second largest collection of sleighs in Canada - roughly 50 in total?

Wintertime sleigh rides at the old Gastle farm (now Northcote Campus) have been a longstanding tradition for Grove students and can be traced as far back as we can remember. On Saturday, Barb and Tom ’53 Ryder surprised Head of School Anne-Marie Kee with a gift of a new sleigh.

Researched and purchased from a family in Guelph, Tom and Barb sought to recreate the image captured in a vintage photo of Win Lampman (daughter of Former Headmaster Alexander Mackenzie) at The Grove sitting in a small cutter with a pony named Dolly (circa 1910).
