Sharing a Canadian Winter

On Sunday, February 11, sixteen LCS students volunteered our time to spend the afternoon with more than 50 people from the New Canadians Centre in Peterborough.
We dedicated the day to enjoy the beautiful winter weather, as it was the first winter for many. Students helped organize and run broomball games on the outdoor rink, tobogganing on Colebrook Hill, s’more making and eating maple taffy in the OE Courtyard, along with campus and trail walks—taking advantage of our school’s beautiful campus.
It was a diverse community of visitors as there were over five languages spoken and luckily the student volunteers, from the LCS global community, were able to help translate for the visitors.
This was the 4th year that LCS has hosted this event and it was truly an incredible and unforgettable experience for me, and I am positive it was for everyone else as well. I built connections with people that I will never forget in just the short time that we spent together. It has inspired me to reach out and extend my help to the New Canadian Centre and its volunteering opportunities.
