1st Boys’ Hockey
Coach: Ian Armstrong
Missing three players but, with the fresh legs, enthusiasm and the intelligence of seven players called up from the Jr. Boys’ Hockey team, the 1st Boys' Hockey team faced off against De La Salle in a great game.

Down 1 - 0 midway through the first period, the boys in red and green, led by captains Ben Gledhow and Brendan Rutherford, held the course, supported one another, and were confident that good things were going to happen; and happen they did.  Senior left winger Mitchell Stedman opened the scoring with a rocket from the middle at the start of the second period to tie the game. Then, on an amazing solo and short handed rush, John Beckett scored a highlight reel goal to take the lead. James Battis held firm in net, until an opponent's knee forced him to leave the game.  Have no fear, Xavier is here! Rookie goaltender Xavier Lehmann came in and continued to provide big saves when needed, shutting the door on DLS, including a save on a breakaway, off of his head!

All seven of the Jr. call-ups maintained control over their performance, supporting all forward lines and defensive pairings as the play entered the third period.  Then, Joey Osborne buried a goal to give LCS a 3 - 1 lead. To close out the win, all players demonstrated composure, patience, and discipline setting the team up for a positive seeding and matchup for the playoffs next week.

The “Player of the Game” distinction was shared by goalies James and Xavier - well deserved!

1st Alpine
Coaches: Peter Andras, Rob Fleming, Darren Moffatt
On Wednesday, February 20 the 1st Alpine team had the last CISAA race of the season. The weather had forced cancellations of the previous two slalom races which put pressure on all the competitors to perform.

The boys’ team had strong results and secured a third-place finish overall in the season. The team is looking strong for next season as this race displayed how much ski technique has been absorbed through the season.

The girls’ team had some very strong results and finished third overall this season. The last race was close for the girls who were edged out of second place by Havergal by a mere 2 points. The alpine athletes can all be proud of their achievements this season!

On the Girls’ team Keely Matsusaki finished 3rd in the league over the whole season, while Emmi Matsusaki finished 10th overall and Dana Elent finished 15th.

On the Boys’ team Magnus Hepburn finished 8th overall in the league with Vincent Dahm in 9th and Matti Boltze in 19th.

Congratulations to all the athletes on the hard work this season.
