Poetry in Voice

By Tina St. John

Grade 9 English students participated in the first stage of the Poetry in Voice competition. This competition encouraged students to read, write and recite poetry.

Students selected a contemporary or classic poem from the competitions anthology and recited it to their class.  They focused on voice and articulation, interpretation of the poem and physical presence. Class winners performed for the entire grade and the winner is going on to compete regionally and nationally.
