Congratulations to our 2019/20 Co-Head Students

The election to select the Co-Head Students for the 2019/20 year was held this week.

Congratulations to Madia McGowan and Santiago Paz Contreras who were elected by their peers and staff in the vote that took place on Thursday morning. Both Madia and Santiago are excited about being selected as Co-Head Students and they are looking forward to leading the student body next year.

Madia has found that the best part of her LCS experiences, the field hockey field to the CAIS Senior Student Leaders’ conference, “are the people I have had the chance to work and play with…[they have] taught me the value in understanding that great leaders need to be great listeners. You cannot understand people unless you listen to them, and during my years here I believe I have evolved into a great listener.”

Santiago shared his three character strengths that define him today—zest for life, compassion for others and a strong moral compass. “Once I learned English, I made friends that pushed me to look at the world in a different way. It became clear that to enjoy life, I had to have a passion and change my mindset. I found this through sports and pushing my physical ability. I learned that I enjoyed trying new things, experiencing life, and doing things to not regret them in the future…I feel like I’ve been able to thrive in the LCS community…I have learned to be myself in this safe community and with this, I’ve been able to grow as a person, an athlete and a student.”

We extend our congratulations, also, to each of the six nominated candidates who shared their perspectives of leadership with the school this week. Liam Cole, Faith Dickinson, Razan Hammoud and Paul Prindiville-Porto are to be commended for their service to the school. We look forward to the leadership by entire Class of 2020 next year!
