Inspired to Encourage

By Jonty Harris ’22

This week, Grade 10 students were inspired to spread encouragement and think about their global community. My family and I are from Australia and when I was home for the Christmas break, the impact of the fires was very prevalent. As a class, we wanted to take action to show support and raise the spirits of those being affected. Together with Ms. Dalrymple, Ms. Connelly and Ms. Bugiea, we came up with the idea to create postcards to send to volunteer firefighters. Nancy Lu ’22 and Pia Holtappels ’22 designed the artwork and everyone came together to write messages of encouragement on the back of each card. 200 postcards will be mailed to Australia to be distributed to volunteers.

A school-wide clean casuals day will be held on Wednesday, February 12 to raise awareness and funds to support the fires in Australia. Proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross and anyone who would like to contribute can visit https://www.redcross.org.au/

Grade 10 students spend the year exploring Stewardship as part of their Leadership, Character, Values Program (LCV). They are encouraged to think about their role in their local and global community and how even small actions can have a large impact.
