Representing LCS at Vex Robotics Competitions

By Mr. Mike Aben

On each of the past two Saturdays, eleven students represented Lakefield College School at Vex Robotics Competitions. The first took place at David Suzuki Secondary School in Brampton and the second at St. Michael's College. In each event, LCS submitted three teams.

During the competition, students are required to work in teams to design, build, and program robots, under strict constraints while competing against opposing teams. Students not only demonstrate and develop their skills as engineers and coders but must also work together cooperatively and think strategically in order to be successful.

All three LCS teams represented the school admirably. Over the two days, there was a tremendous amount of growth, not to mention just plain fun. As we spend the next couple of weeks dismantling our robots and storing away equipment, there is already thought and discussion being put towards next year's competitions.
