Dalglish Art Award Recipient: Chelsea '21

Each year Lakefield College School awards a senior visual art student with the Peter Dalglish Art Award. The Peter Dalglish Art Award was established in 2014 by Geordie Dalglish ‘89 and Kim Dalglish Abell in honour of their father’s affection for Lakefield College School and his commitment to supporting young artists. The recipient is selected by a panel of judges based on a portfolio and a written proposal. The recipient creates an original artwork which is then presented to the Head of School at Closing in June, to be displayed in a permanent collection, and in exchange receives an award of $3000.00. This year’s winner of the Peter Dalglish award is Chelsea Yue '21.
Chelsea Yue began to study art in the third grade, but it didn’t become an important part of her life until she became interested in animation. Since then, she has continually analysed her style as she works to improve her skill.
Chelsea enjoys creating art that conveys a particular message or feeling, which can vary depending on the viewer’s interpretation.
Chelsea’s study of art is important to her decision to pursue architecture as a future career. Art is the highlight of every day for Chelsea, and she particularly enjoys digital composition, photography, writing, and video editing.
Chelsea is pleased to create a piece of art for The Peter Dalglish Art Award because the award provides the recipient with unlimited options around theme, size and media. She is honoured to receive this award as she feels it will allow her to creatively express the impact LCS has had on her.
