Learning and Practising Outdoor Skills

by Briagh Hoskins-Hasbury

While most of our ELL Summer Academy students continue to learn with us remotely, several have joined The Land Canadian Adventures guide and outdoor educator, Andrew Sernasie on LCS campus for a couple weeks of hands-on outdoor skills workshops and canoe-camping trips. They are joined by some returning and some new LCS students in this blended program.

Students are pictured here setting up for this year's Grovernighter: an introduction to camping right at The Grove's beautiful waterfront. Their set-up was certainly put to the test during heavy rainfall last night, but I'm happy to report that everyone stayed warm and dry throughout!

Meanwhile, our remote learners have been putting together some very creative Survival Smarts video projects to demonstrate their wilderness survival knowledge so stay tuned for those.
