Addressing Complex Issues and Collaborating through Model UN

Each November, over 500 high-school, college and university students meet to discuss and debate global issues at the Montreal Model United Nations Conference (MUNC). The conference emphasizes the spirit of collaboration and encourages students to develop workable solutions to complex issues. MUNC values authenticity by simulating committees that capture the spirit of the United Nations.

A group of Lakefield College School students will participate in the virtual MUNC 2020 from Friday, November 20 to Sunday, November 22. According to Justin Trudeau, “since its inception in 2013, MUNC has empowered thousands of students from every corner of the map to showcase their immense talent and engage in dynamic debate.” We congratulate our students for challenging themselves by preparing for and participating in this event.

MUNC is a three-day international relations simulation for students, offering them the opportunity to assume the role of a country and debate the best course of action when discussing multiple global concerns. The students will be working towards finding resolutions for challenging topics such as the global food shortage, overcoming the challenges universal vaccinations present and access to mental health services.

We wish the following students and their leaders Ms. Jennifer Browne and Mr. Maxwell McEachern all the best as they experience the Montreal United Nations Conference this weekend:
