Athlete of the Month: December 2020

The Athletics Department awards the Grove Athlete of the Month to two students who demonstrate good sportsmanship and excel in their given co-curricular.

For the month of December, the first award was presented to Taya Garbutt ‘24. Taya has been a rockstar on the Girl’s Hockey Team. Not only do her skills shine on the ice, she is recognized for her dedication to the team. Taya regularly loads and unloads the bus and finds other ways to help her teammates, including bringing out all of the pucks and collecting them after practice. Taya is a skilled player who brings enthusiasm and determination to every practice and game.

The second award was presented to Maureen Hodnett ‘24. Maureen is a member of the Girl’s Volleyball Team where her leadership skills shine. She always shows passion and empathy for new players, taking the time to explain rules and offer helpful tips. Maureen works with all players to ensure everyone is included. She is also the first to help set up and put equipment away. As a strong player, she eagerly fills in any gaps on the court.  When playing, she will not let a single ball hit the ground. Maureen plays every drill and game with passion, integrity, kindness and grit.

Congratulations to our athletes of the month for December!
