Athlete of the Month: January 2021

The Athletics Department awards the Grove Athlete of the Month to two to three students who demonstrate good sportsmanship and excel in their given co-curricular.

For the month of January, the first award was presented to Gaku Ogawa ‘22. Gaku is an enthusiastic member of the Nordic Skiing team and he brings his best self to every practice. Gaku has also taken the initiative to work one-on-one with new skiers to help them learn the ropes of the sport and find their bearings on the team. Congratulations, Gaku for being both an excellent athlete and a great team player!

The second and third awards were presented to Kate Bemrose ‘22 and Ella Zegarra Brown ‘22 for Female Fitness. These students were not only the most active participants in Female Fitness but they also offered to lead fitness classes, demonstrating a commitment to mentoring new athletes. They bring passion and enthusiasm to all that they do. Kate and Ella went beyond what was expected by taking on new fitness skills, including high intensity running and yoga. Both girls showed up smiling and committed even after long days of remote learning. Great work, Ella and Kate!

Congratulations to our athletes of the month for January!
