On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, Christine Lintott joined us for our second
Virtual Speaker Series event of the year.
Christine Lintott is the Principal of
Christine Lintott Architects her practice based on Vancouver Island. She is a Registered Professional Architect in the Provinces of British Columbia and Ontario, she is a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and a Certified Biomimicry Professional. Her built environment design expertise spans sustainability protocols from LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified projects at the University of Victoria to the pursuit of LBC (Living Building Challenge) certification with the organization Power To Be.
Christine is a leader in the development of Ecological Performance Standards and has consistently advocated for the most progressive, ecological design strategies in a variety of project typologies, from independent schools to seniors housing residences to single-family homes. The focus of her practice, in collaboration with international expert Jason McLennan and his leading regenerative design practice McLennan Design, has broadened her influence globally, and evolved her ecological strategies toward deep green, regenerative solutions for the built environment.
We were so pleased to provide this opportunity for our community to learn more about the plans for our campus.
Christine spoke about the recently approved
design principles which inform our Campus Master Plan, with a focus on Regenerative Design. Christine helped us to better understand what regenerative design means and how its principles will help us to achieve our strategic goals of environmental responsibility as a learning community.
“In 2020, a year which illustrated change so vividly, the newly adopted campus master plan is an invitation to demonstrate the profound leadership possible from an educational institution. Lakefield College School is uniquely positioned to embody extraordinary global leadership in how it implements its capital projects, in how it restores and elevates the health of the natural systems in the human infrastructure of its campus.”
"Designs informed by regenerative design principles will help prepare LCS students for a world significantly impacted by the effects of rapid climate change...With every new intervention on campus, we ask the question – how can this action be informed by regenerative design principles that help to heal the campus and move toward positive, reciprocal outcomes, advancing our school value of environmental responsibility? Regardless of how small or large, each action on campus contributes to the health and wellbeing of the entire learning community."
We are so grateful to Christine for sharing her time with us and helping us understand what regenerative-inspired design can look like at LCS.
