Summer Academy and Programs at Lakefield College School | Summer Camp 2021 

This summer, we’re thrilled to offer a variety of in-person, remote, and blended learning programs to students seeking challenging and fun academic and recreational opportunities. Students can select from a range of unique programs to learn in and through the outdoors while enjoying our beautiful campus facilities and waterfront during the summer.

On Saturday, April 17, we will be hosting two Virtual Open House sessions at 8:00 am (EST) and 1:00 pm (EST) to provide more information about our summer programs. 

Registration for our Summer Academy and Programs is open and spots are filling quickly so we encourage parents to register now to ensure their child is enrolled.

Some of the programs we are most excited about offering this summer are:

In this five-day program, students will spend their mornings reviewing key math, science, and English concepts and skills that are integral to a successful year in Grade 9 in Ontario. These morning sessions will help prepare incoming high school students for the academic rigour that high school courses offer. In the afternoon, they will choose from a wide array of exciting and engaging traditional camp activities and sports that could be a part of their high school experience. The overnight program is rounded out by evening programming at our waterfront and on our beautiful rural campus. Learn more about Grove Prep for Grade 9. 

The Learning Languages through the Outdoors program offers students a unique opportunity to earn a credit in four weeks and improve their English or French language proficiency while enjoying the benefits of a Canadian summer outdoor experience. Students will spend every day outdoors—on the water, in the forest, at our garden—learning, making friends, and practicing their language skills. This program provides language learners with real-life, practical opportunities to apply the knowledge they gain as they acquire new abilities. We find that this style of language learning helps students build their vocabulary and retain their skills at an accelerated rate. Learn more about Learning Languages in the Outdoors. 

This program provides the opportunity to learn about food production and eco-farming through hands-on adventures at our school garden. Students plant, nurture, and harvest greens, root vegetables, and more, learning first-hand about the business of running a farm, the value of sustainability, and the joy of preparing and consuming food that they have grown.

Mornings and evenings are devoted to the farming program; afternoons are spent in recreational activities on our waterfront and campus. Students earn an Ontario Secondary School interdisciplinary course credit (IDC30).

These are just a few of the exciting courses students have to select from at LCS’s Summer Academy and Programs. All programs, excepting the 5-day intensives, offer the opportunity to earn an Ontario Secondary School credit. Learn more about From Seed to Table.
