Athletics Action - XC Running, Field Hockey, Soccer, and more!

This Wednesday, our student-athletes were ready to rumble for their second day of competitive athletics in the 2021/22 school year. The excitement of returning to competitive sports following an 18-month-long break has not yet worn off and we are inspired by our students’ energy and enthusiasm.

Volleyball
The 1st Boys Volleyball team competed in an away game against Albert College that saw our Grade 11 students earning their place on the team with great agility and skill. Matt ’23 served a massive run and Pen ’23 showcased his steady passing skills throughout the game. Our Grads dominated the court with their strategy and grit. Ms. Gilbart and Ms. Forestell offered a “shout out” to David ’22, who stepped up as a setter and Harry ’22 for powerful hits.

Basketball
Our 1st Girls Basketball team also competed against Albert College in a challenging match that saw them three points shy of a tie.

Soccer
Three Boys Soccer games unfolded on Wednesday; our Jr. Boys and 1st Boys Soccer teams played away games against Country Day School while 2nd Boys Soccer welcomed Rosseau Lake to our campus.

Jr. Boys Soccer – Congratulations to Max ’24 for scoring two goals and Rayhan ’24 for stopping every ball! Adam ’25 is also recognized for stepping up in the position of left-back, a position he’s never played before. The team had a strong game, winning 2-0.

1st Boys Soccer – Well done to Brad ’23 for scoring the first goal of the game. Matteo ’23 also brought the team into the lead with a second goal. Country Day School made a swift move, scoring a goal within the last five minutes, which resulted in a tie game.

2nd Boys Soccer – Our 2nd Boys team had a great match against Rosseau Lake. Congratulations to Oscar ’23 for making a goal and to Bill ’23 for an assist!

Field Hockey
Our 1st Girls Field Hockey team welcomed Trinity College School to Matthews Field for a challenging match that resulted in a 2-1 loss. The team is applauded for their valiant efforts!

Cross Country
The LCS Cross Country running team had their first race of the season at Dunnett Orchards for the Bay of Quinte Invitational (Kawartha Championships). Amazing achievements were made by our runners, with Thomas ’22 achieving a 3rd place finish in the Sr. Boys race, Gabriel ’25 finishing in 1st place in Jr. Boys and Richard ’24 in 4th place.
