Taking Education Beyond the Classroom | Intersession Day

On Friday, April 8, the LCS student body participated in an intersession day that focussed on grade-specific activities, designed to get students to think about taking care of themselves, their community and their future (at LCS and beyond).

Intersession days are grounded in experiential programming that supports students with unique opportunities to reflect on, question, and engage in activities designed to complement and enrich their learning.

With a focus on Community First, our Grade 9 students strengthened their First Aid skills throughout the day. Our Grade 10 students focused on awareness and teamwork through a series of activities and an improvisation session led by guest speaker, Nancy Watt (local writer, actor, improviser, and speaker). Our Grade 11 students participated in a workshop led by our Grads who presented to them on the Seniors-in-Charge (SIC) roles and things to consider as they take on leadership roles in the 2022/23 school year.

Throughout the afternoon, students in Grades 10-12 also participated in Career Day, where they had the opportunity to hear from 22 speakers from our alumni and LCS community who have thriving careers in a variety of fields, including architecture, journalism, marketing, finance, psychology, and more. The sessions provided our students with insight into how they might design their pathways of learning for future career directions.
