Farewell to The Class of 2022

“You need to keep pushing for a better world because you, Class of 2022, are limitless.” — Closing 2022 Keynote Speaker, LCS Board Director Antoine Mindjimba P ’16, ’19

Thank you to all LCS students and families, faculty, and staff for another incredible year at The Grove! On Saturday, June 18, we experienced the joy of gathering as a full community under the big white tent to celebrate our students and staff and their hard work and many accomplishments during our 143rd Closing Ceremony. And what a celebration it was—in person—after three years!

It was wonderful to see so many of our families coming together to celebrate and enjoy our beautiful outdoor ceremony. While the weather was cool, the sunny blue skies and sparkling waters of Lake Katchewanooka did not disappoint and provided the perfect backdrop for the day.

Thank you to Antoine Mindjimba P ’16, ’19 for his inspiring keynote address which spoke to the value and power of each individual to create a better world, and to Hugh Macdonnell '85, P '18, who reminded us of the many common experiences we’ve all shared at The Grove and of our responsibility to give back. In her Closing Address, Anne-Marie Kee reminded and congratulated all of our students—from our Grade 9s to our Graduates—for what they have achieved, how they’ve responded to each new and unique experience, and the roads they have and will continue to travel. “Today’s students will carry with them a unique experience that has shaped and will continue to shape their lives. The lessons you’ve learned through your challenging high school experience can be carried with you as you tackle the real world ahead, and I hope you use your education for action. We are all so proud of you and the amazing places you will head to next year…and when you return one day, as an alum, I hope that you continue to care about global issues and how you are making a difference.”

We look forward to the day when the Class of 2022 returns to The Grove, bringing with them their memories of their time at Lakefield and nostalgia for the special traditions that we all know and love.
“This will always be your home. We will miss you a lot when you leave today. You’re always welcome here.” — LCS Board Chair Hugh Macdonnell '85, P '18
