LCS Students Deliver a Spectacular Production of Something Rotten!

The success of our students' production of Something Rotten! (written by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell) was nothing short of phenomenal. This week, they performed five shows to packed audiences of peers, faculty, staff, friends, and family at The Bryan Jones Theatre. The fact that they were able to sell out two of the shows and attract over 1000 audience members from our school community and beyond is a testament to our students’ expertise.

From the opening number—Welcome to the Renaissance—to the final curtain call—Finale—our students' performance was a tour de force of singing, dancing, and acting. They brought a stunning level of skill and professionalism to the stage. The set design and costumes were also noteworthy, with sophisticated details (including Tudor-style buildings with thatched roofs) that brought the production to life. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the show, from the props to the lighting, which enhanced the mood and tone of each scene. Our cast and crew’s ability to work together as a team and execute such a complex production with finesse was truly impressive. Congratulations to everyone involved!

One of the most impressive aspects of the production was the way our actors were able to capture the essence of the Renaissance era while still infusing it with a modern and comedic twist. The script was full of clever wordplay and witty humour, and our students were able to deliver it flawlessly. The comedic timing and delivery of each line were spot-on, which kept the audience engaged and laughing throughout the show.

Another standout feature of the production was the choreography. The dance numbers were intricate and well-rehearsed, with each performer bringing their own unique flair to the movements. The dance routines were seamlessly integrated into the storyline and added another layer of energy and excitement to the show.

The shows were received positively by the audiences, with one LCS parent sharing, “A wonderful production. I’m so glad we got to see it!”

Overall, the success of Something Rotten! is a true testament to the hard work, dedication, and talent of our students. The production showcased the best of what our students have to offer, and we can't wait to see what they do next.
