Out of The Cold

My experience this week volunteering at Out of The Cold was a great one - especially with the great atmosphere that everyone involved created!
On Thursday, we set out to the OE Kitchen with a bunch of food. We made more than 70 cupcakes and five full crock pots of chili! Everyone had a good time cooking and baking, and with a few mishaps (some not the most perfect cupcakes) we came through with an amazing meal I think everyone was proud of - and I was definitely excited to serve.
Then Saturday came, the All Saints Church in Peterborough was full of activity in preparation. Salads were made, cutlery put out, cupcakes iced. The entire community was so alive, everyone really wanting to be there - I think that added to experience 100%.
I took a couple moments to play some relaxing music on the piano, and then we got to serving. Person after person, we took care in making sure to gave each person what they wanted to the best of our ability.
Finally, we cleaned up and put everything away, and we called it a night. Overall, my experience with volunteering with Out of The Cold was a great one, each person so eager and willing to help each other out and staying it the best mood throughout, even when little problems were thrown our way. I look forward to volunteering with them again!
