We Stand With You

By Rev. John Runza
On the evening of Thursday, February 9 in the Chapel, LCS students and staff held a vigil to honour and remember the people who lost their lives in the shooting at the Islamic Cultural Centre of Quebec City.

Together, staff and students joined invited guests Riaz Ahmed and family and Dr. Kenzu Abdella in prayer and words of reflection.  An important message was shared by Dr. Abdella and a prayer of love and unity was shared by Mr. Ahmed to close the vigil.

Students, staff and friends, expressed themselves in English, French and Arabic, as the lives and spirits of Mamadou Tanou Barry, Azzedine Soufian, Khaled Belkacemi, Aboubaker Thabti, Ibrahima Barry, and Abdelkrim Hassane were honoured.  A card, signed by all attendees and LCS staff and students will be delivered by the Bouchard family to the mayor of Quebec City, with our love.

Special gratitude goes to Libby Dalrymple, Robyn Hotte '18, Abdullah Ghoto ‘17, Sophie Milburn ‘18, Nordin Kanja ‘17, Rose Bouchard ‘18, Rachel Leung ‘18 and Meg Hicks ‘12 for organizing this important event.
