1st Alpine Skiing
The 1st Alpine Racing team members Keely Matsusaki, Juliette Polito, Philine Hoyer, Roxane Piret, Sara Hubble and Scott Thompson all travelled to the OFSAA Alpine Ski Championships on Sunday, February 26 and brought home gold!
The School Girls division skiers faced the best high school skiers in Ontario from 15 associations all across the province. On Monday, they placed first in Slalom winning OFSAA gold, and on Tuesday they narrowly missed gold and received silver! This put them in first overall for the season allowing for two teams from our association to attend the OFSAA competition next year.
Our loan Open Male Skier (formally Level 2) Scott Thompson had two huge days at the highly competitive OFSAA competition. After an unfortunate first Slalom run on Monday and a DNF he won the rest of his races! He brought home OFSAA gold in the Giant Slalom.
Congratulations to all our skiers on a fantastic season!
1st Boys’ Hockey
Road Warriors again, the boys in red and green were well rested and prepared for a quarter final play off match on the ice at Upper Canada College.
Having trouble finding their legs and their game, the LCS boys went down 2 - 0 mid-way through the first period. However, senior goalie Neven Ferguson shut the door and allowed LCS to regroup and push back with two wonderful power play goals in the second period; the first from Captain Tristan Walsh, assisted by fellow captain and brother Taylor Walsh, the second on a pure snipe by call-up Tommy Quick.
Thus, the third period was set up for a great ending between two evenly matched teams. Gabe Lalancette had a wonderful chance in tight but was thwarted by a strong UCC save. Then, towards the end of the game, UCC scored the game winner with just a few minutes left. LCS battled back with an extra attacker but were unable to send the game into overtime. Thus, the team's season ended with a 4 - 2 (empty net goal) loss.
On behalf of Coaches Reaume and Gibson, it was a wonderful and positive season for all of the players, and more importantly the entire team. To the graduating seniors, that you for your contributions to what makes LCS Hockey special - your hard work, your loyalty and discipline, and your true enjoyment of the game.
1st Girls’ Hockey
Congratulations to the 1st Girls' Hockey team that defeated TCS 5 - 2. Annie Da opened the scoring, followed by Allie Avard, Maddy McGowan with 2, and closed out with a marker from Jenna Hall. This was a huge win for the girls' team, who played a spirited opponent. Maggiemae Jones backstopped the team victory.
