Easter Eggstravaganza

By Jen Horrigan

For the first time ever, LCS students participated in a school-organized trip during the Easter holiday. The adventures included something for everyone and fun was had by all. The group cheered on the Toronto Blue Jays as they battled against the Baltimore Orioles in opening week action. For many, this was their first ever time seeing a live baseball game and the the energy of opening week made for a lively crowd of Jays supporters.

Students were able to choose their activities during their stay in Toronto with many choosing to shop and dine in the Eaton Centre area and some venturing to the CN Tower for a trip to the top of the Skypod.  The views of Lake Ontario and the city skyline were impressive on a cloudless day and Paula and Eva from Spain marvelled at how the city stretched out such a vast distance.  The group learned a lot at the Royal Ontario Museum and later took in a performance at the famous Second City comedy show and a dinner at Hard Rock Cafe.

After leaving the hustle and bustle of Toronto, the group travelled to Peterborough for rest and relaxation over the weekend.  The students enjoyed dinner and a movie on Saturday evening and Sunday was a great chance to sleep in and enjoy a trip to the Peterborough Museum and Archives, lunch downtown and then magnificent Easter feasts hosted by day students Rachel Harding and MaggieMae Jones and their families.  After delicious food and Easter treats, the students were happy to have another relaxing day on Monday that saw the students head to the mall in Peterborough, bowling and a group dinner at East Side Mario's.

It was a wonderful trip with a mix of excitement and relaxation that left everyone ready to return to school and jump into spring at LCS.
