Visual Arts Festival

By Tayler Morencie

On Friday, April 21st, Clara Seitz, Dasha Egudkina, Alan Song and Niah Graham travelled to Trafalgar Castle School to participate in the inaugural CIS Visual Arts Festival. Our day began with a presentation from keynote speaker Joaquin Manay, an artist, educator and beatboxer. Following our welcome, the students participated in a morning workshop at the Station Gallery where they created personal journey shadow boxes using mixed media. In the afternoon, Dasha and Clara painted landscapes, en plein air using oil paints, Alan explored etching and printed a self-portrait, while Niah illustrated imaginary landscapes. A great time was had by all and we all came away inspired!
