1st Boys’ Rugby
Coaches: Garret Hart, Darren Mossman, Colin Simpson
The 1st Boys’ Rugby team travelled to Cherry Beach in Toronto for their second tournament of the season. It was another successful outing as the boys matched up against Royal Saint Georges College in their first match.  The boys displayed great teamwork which resulted in a 20-0 victory. Tries were scored by Mitch Lund, Chris Cameron, Logan Ball and Julius Von Baumbach.

The next game on the schedule was against Rosseau Lake College. Our opposition played great defence throughout the game but could not stop our boys from scoring five tries.  Mitch Lund, Jacob Kee, Noah Storey, Andrew Maltman and  Matt Lovick all scored tries in the 25-5 victory.

In the final game of the day, LCS met up with the other undefeated team in the loop; Greenwood College School.  It was a hard fought contest but again our boys showed impressive speed and played a tough defensive game to earn a 25-5 victory.  Tries were scored by Jacob Kee, Noah Storey, Matt Lovick and a pair for Chris Cameron.

These victories leave LCS in first place in the Eastern Division of the league with one more tournament to play before the championships at Country Day School on Wednesday, May 24.  On Saturday, May 13,  all three LCS rugby teams will travel to Hamilton for the HSC invitational exhibition tournament.

1st Girls’ Soccer
Coaches: Janice Runza, Danielle Labrosse
On Wednesday May 10, the 1st Girls' Soccer team travelled to Toronto to play Crestwood Preparatory School.  Despite a challenging week of inclement weather and not being able to practice on the field due to the conditions, LCS came out strong, putting pressure on CPS right from the first whistle.  Unfortunately, despite many opportunities, the team could not hit the net.  LCS dominated possession for the majority of the game and yet found themselves down 4-0 in the second half due to a few lucky breaks for CPS.  The players pushed each other and would not accept defeat until such time as that final whistle blew.  In the second half Clara Mindjimba was able to score and the pendulum swung as LCS found momentum.  Soon after, Fred Roy quickly hit the net twice.  The team battled right to the end but could not tie it up, losing 4-3.  The coaches are incredibly proud of how the girls conducted themselves during a very challenging match, and the fact that they never gave up and were committed to finishing strong.  Next week the team faces two games, Tuesday May 16 at home against TCS and then at Trafalgar Castle School on Wednesday May 17.

Jr. Girls’ Soccer
Coaches: Emily Pederson, Laura King
The Jr. Girls’ Soccer team took the field at St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School in Oakville with hopes of redemption from last week's game. The sun was shining and the girls were eager to show their strength on the field. Both teams demonstrated fantastic team work as well as strong defensive and offensive skills on either end of the field. It was clear throughout the entire game, that LCS was eager to score and find an empty spot in their net. It was during the second half that Annie Da scored her first goal in soccer. After a beautiful corner kick from Madia McGowan, Annie found the ball amongst a scramble in front of the net and scored crossbar down.  Although the girls fought hard as a team, SMLS took the win. We were so proud of our girls as they continued to show positive attitudes and strength a team. We look forward to meeting up with SJK one last time this Saturday.
