1st Girls’ Field Hockey
On Wednesday afternoon, the LCS 1st Girls’ Field Hockey team travelled to Bayview Glen (BVG), and what a game it was! Facing their toughest competition thus far on BVG’s turf field, the LCS Terrapins did not shy away from the heat brought by the BVG Gryphons. The first half saw goals by Dakyum Lee and Clara Mindjimba and concluded with a nail-biting 2-1 lead by LCS. In the second half however, BVG quickly answered that lead. The LCS girls dug deep and finally scored two more goals, both by Lizzy Hood. The LCS Terrapins came away with a very well deserved 4-2 victory! A very special shout out to Allie Avard who stepped-up and volunteered to play goalie for the team. What an incredible game, great job!

Cross Country
This past Wednesday, the Lakefield College School Cross Country team travelled to Trinity College School, not to race but to get an opportunity to train on the CISSA Qualifier course with the TCS Harriers team. This has been an annual event between the two teams spearheaded by Mr Gilfillan, Ms. Wierenga, TCS teacher and LCS alumnus, Steve Patterson '93 and former LCS teacher Jodie Fisher. This week’s work-out involved a 3km interval and three-1km intervals at "faster than race pace.” For LCS runner and Co-Captain, Joe Ribbins, this meant leading the pack by 25 meters while talking to bystanders. The dreaded Mount Trinity was also ascended twice. As coaches, we continue to be impressed by the immediate and positive impression our student athletes have when visiting other schools. Both Mr. Patterson and Ms Fisher commented on Leanne Britton-Foster's enthusiasm and friendliness. Next Wednesday marks the last race until the OFSAA finals.
