Happy Holidays from the Grove Society

On Saturday, December 9, more than 130 LCS alumni, current and future family members came together to celebrate our school with students and staff sharing their creative talents, and stories of experience.

Before entering the Chapel doors, guests enjoyed the Windows of the World display in the Narthex, displaying symbols representing and celebrating the seasonal traditions of our international students. There was a piñata from Mexico, origami from Japan, Father Christmas to represent German traditions and a menorah in honour of Judaism. The thought and effort that went into creating these displays was appreciated by all. Many thanks to Jen Horrigan '99, Coordinator of International Student Affairs, for her work in coordinating the display with students.

Several Grove Society Parent Chapter Volunteers spent several hours creating a beautiful, festive space in the Chapel. The fragrance of fresh greens, gathered from the school's Northcote Campus, punctuated by the vibrant red of poinsettias nestled in the school's maple syrup tins had everyone smiling. The massive Christmas tree was dressed in spirited decorations reflecting school life and activities such as paddling, skiing and skating.

The beauty of the Chapel served as a wonderful backdrop for the more than 75 students who shared their musical, vocal and written talents with families and alumni. Who can forget Evanne Bell’s incredibly beautiful tribute to her father and their relationship?

As we listened to students speak about Spiritual Life, Global Learning, Co-Curriculars and the wonders of being a student at The Grove, it was increasing apparent how this gathering was a celebration not only of the season, but of the Lakefield advantage. In this season of giving, is the best gift we can give ourselves and our children.

A beautiful holiday lunch, prepared under the creative eye of the Aramark Team, was enjoyed by everyone in attendance who gathered together for fellowship following the event.

Thank you to all who came together to support and organize this annual LCS tradition.
