The UK Friends of Lakefield College School is a charity founded in order to reflect the gratitude of British Alumni who attended The Grove during WWII. Today, the charity is funded by LCS graduates living in Europe and is overseen by a group of alumni living in the UK.
In 1980, the UK Friends established the British Alumni Travelling Scholarship to provide financial support to a graduate of Lakefield College School to live independently for eight months outside of the Americas, predominantly in Europe, beginning their adventure in the UK.
This year we are pleased to announce that the trustees have decided to appoint two scholars of the 2018 British Alumni Travelling Scholarship – Dessa Douglas and Noah Storey. Their awards mark 50 LCS alumni who have benefited from this scholarship.
“I believe that this scholarship really has the possibility to completely change a person’s life for the better, and that is a reality that I am grateful to have the chance to achieve,” Noah shared.
Dessa is similarly inspired, “…what I hope to gain from this experience is education. I am extremely intrigued by the diverse cultures and lifestyles that are carried out throughout the parts of the world that I have not yet been able to see...with this scholarship, I believe that I would be able to develop my writing abilities simply due to the vast amount of new opportunities that it will present me.”
Lakefield College School is grateful to the UK Friends for the support of our alumni.
