Celebrating our Volunteers

Lakefield College School has a long and proud history of volunteerism. From the formal establishment of the Grove Guild and the Old Boys’ Association in 1924 to today’s Grove Society and our school and foundation trustees – the school’s success is due in part to the dedication and commitment from volunteers.

Our volunteers have played an integral role the success of the school over this past year, and in the case of some of our volunteers, for many years. The staff, faculty and students of LCS are grateful to our volunteers for providing their time, expertise and passion with our community.

In appreciation, on Friday, May 25, Anne-Marie Kee hosted a group of volunteers in her home for an informal gathering. Before arriving at her home, the school’s Outdoor Education staff provided opportunities for the volunteers to enjoy an LCS experience that included the ropes course, paddling and canoeing. And we are happy to report that no one fell in the lake or fell off the ropes!

At the reception, Lara MacGregor (Mother of Sebastian ’18) was celebrated by Anne-Marie for her contributions to the school community with a Red Door Award. Anne-Marie acknowledged Lara’s role as a school trustee and her leadership within the Grove Society, specifically her support of our parent community.

Lara volunteered in her first year with the Grove Society for various events and activities, including Fall Fair, Through the Red Door, Replay Shop and has provided outreach and support to our parent community (both prospective and current) through the Welcome Program, Opening Registration and Open Houses. In the Fall of 2015, she was asked to join as a Member-at-Large on the Grove Society Executive Committee.

In 2016, Lara was asked to increase her commitment as the President of the Grove Society Parent Chapter and she did so with thoughtful consideration and dedication.  Lara’s leadership has been highly valued by all who work with her. Her commitment to the school and the parent community has contributed to a positive rating from our parent community on our recent survey.

Thank you to all of our volunteers, for all that you do!
