Each year, Regatta Day is an event that the entire community looks forward to – it is a celebration of Camp Lakefield – sunny, warm days enjoying our beautiful campus. This year, however, the excitement was bigger than ever as we anxiously awaited the re-opening of the newly enhanced waterfront!
We are so grateful to everyone who pitched in to get things ready for Saturday’s Regatta Day – led by our remarkable Facilities Team.
The decking along the waterfront allowed everyone a prime spot to view the canoe and sailing races, waterslide, kids’ games and meet friends as they went to enjoy the BBQ lunch and ice cream generously donated by Central Smith Creamery!
The Adventure Challenge did not disappoint with the exhausting tasks each team faced, including axe throwing from Upper Canada Axe Throwing.
Unfortunately, the rain began just as the Strawberry Tea got under way but, in true Grove fashion, everyone quickly pitched in to move the event to the dining hall with minimal soaking! It didn’t dampen the spirit of Rachel Leung ’18 who entertained everyone with her performance.
As everyone moved to the theatre for the final performance of Lord of the Flies, we reflected on what a great day it was and how grateful we are to have this wonderful campus, like no other!
Thank you to everyone who helped out this year – from getting the waterfront ready, to the food, to the races and kids activities throughout the day.
