Learning English Outdoors, Enrichment Program

Students will collaborate in this English immersive environment while mastering outdoors skills such as pitching a tent, building a campfire, and paddling a canoe in a traditional Canadian camp environment.

    Daily Schedule

    Daily schedules may vary, but students can expect:

    • Immersive and active instruction (throughout day)
    • Outdoors activities to practice English
    • Overnight camping trips (hiking and paddling)
    • Leisure activities such as bonfires, movies, and board games
    • Recreational activities that include yoga, dance, tennis, sailing, swimming, ropes courses, beach volleyball, and canoeing

    Course Highlights

    Daily English skills practice while working together:

    • Mastering outdoors skills such as wilderness camping, cooking over a campfire and canoeing
    • Immersed in the cultural and natural heritage of our area
    • Learning about the great Canadian wilderness
    • Experiencing camping in a local Ontario campground
    • Curriculum informed by international test preparations courses
  • Accommodations

    • Students stay in an air-conditioned residence 
    • Shared rooms (doubles or triples). 
    • Live-in residential staff provide supervision and support 24/7
This program offers students experiences that will build their confidence in conversing with their peers and teachers while providing them with outdoor skills that will prepare them for fun and enjoyment in every aspect of outdoor life in Canada.

  • Laptops

    Students will need to bring a laptop computer to complete and submit academic assignments. Student residences and academic areas all have Wi-Fi.
  • For Current and Incoming Lakefield College School Students

    Any student who is not a Canadian citizen or Permanent resident of Canada must obtain a study permit to attend Lakefield College School Summer Academy programs. It is the responsibility of the parent (or guardian) to obtain the necessary documents and authorization prior to their student entering Canada to study.
     
    If you have not already done so, please contact your nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate as soon as possible to begin the process. For complete details of the application process and requirements, please visit the website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada to complete your study permit application.

  • For Students Who Are Only Attending the LCS Summer Academy

  • Requirements for International Students

    As part of the enrolment process, Lakefield College School will be asking you to complete several forms as part of your registration, including providing health information, arranging for health insurance, naming a Canadian Legal Guardian, etc. All such forms must be submitted to Lakefield College School by May 30, 2022.
Please note that all courses are subject to enrolment and may be cancelled; in this case, students will be offered a refund. Students will be given the opportunity to transfer to another credit should their primary selection be cancelled.
