Welcome to The Grove

This fall, we're welcoming many new faces to LCS.

Meet our new staff:

Sam Wilson, Teacher
Having served two years as the Assistant Head of Matthews House, Sam Wilson is no stranger to LCS. Sam is a graduate of Nipissing University Schulich School of Education and studied philosophy and history at Queen's University for his undergraduate degree. He looks forward to continuing his teaching career at LCS this year as a teacher in the Social Studies department. Sam will be teaching Civics and World Issues and continue his work with the debating and public speaking program. 
 
Stephanie Jackman, Teacher
Stephanie Jackman is very excited to be joining the LCS science faculty teaching chemistry and Grade 10 Science. Stephanie is a graduate of the Queen's - Trent Concurrent Education Program and studied chemistry as part of her Trent undergraduate degree. Stephanie is originally from the Lakefield area and she spent last year teaching at TCS. 
 
Emily Pedersen, Teaching Fellow
Emily graduated from Brock University's concurrent education program and she is qualified to teach mathematics and physical education. Originally from Uxbridge, Emily is excited to relocate to the area next year. Emily has also coached soccer for several years.
 
Sarah Leaper, Teaching Fellow
Sarah graduated from OISE’s concurrent Bachelor of Education program. Her teachables are English and history and she is looking forward to being immersed in another school community out of Toronto. Her interests are the outdoors, cooking, theatre and poetry.
 
Kelsey Crowe, Teaching Fellow
Kelsey recently completed her Bachelor of Education at Queen's University and her teachables are Canadian History and Classical Civilizations.  Kelsey will also be assisting with the band, choir, and musical. 
 
Tobey Guillick-Scott, Academic Coach 
Tobey has a Bachelor of Kinesiology, Honours from Acadia University and she has her Bachelor of Education and her MA from the University of Western Ontario. Tobey has previously taught at Landmark East, a school for students with learning differences in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.
 
Amber Fraser, Academic Coach 
Amber has a Bachelor of Arts (English), a Bachelor of Education and her Master of Education from Lakehead University.  Amber has previously taught at Arrowsmith, a school for students with learning differences in Peterborough.
 
Barbara MacLean, Receptionist
Barbara will be working at the reception desk Thursdays and Fridays.  Barbara has previous experience in education as well as a number of years in various customer service roles. 
 
Lauren Goulding, Social Worker
Lauren has more than 10 years of experience providing support and services to families, children and youth.  Most recently, Lauren has been part of the Social Services Worker Program teaching team at Fleming College; teaching courses in psychology and developing provincial curriculum in the field of child welfare.
 
Lauren, as the newest member of our health services team, will lend her experience in child and adolescent development and mental health management. In addition to providing supportive counseling to our students, Lauren will also offer expert consultation and collaboration on program developments that will enhance our mental health outreach program and improve the overall quality of mental health promotion, education, and awareness at LCS. 
 
 
The following are the Assistant Heads of House:
 
Baillie Allen ’09, Uplands House
Baillie attended LCS from 2006 - 2009 and was Co-Head Student in 2008/09.  She graduated from Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland finishing her final year of undergraduate medicine.  She will be working with the Communications & Constituent Relations Office and Science department, while coaching basketball and rugby.
 
Jessica Carbone, Grove House
Jessica graduated from the Concurrent Bachelor of Physical Education and Bachelor of Education program at Brock University.  In addition to working in Grove House, Jessica will be helping the Outdoor Education department and coaching basketball, volleyball and track and field.
 
Michael Daniel, Cooper House
Michael graduated from Fleming College with a diploma in Outdoor and Adventure Education.  We actually welcome Michael back to LCS, as he worked on campus with the international camp and with Aramark.  It's also worth noting that Michael's mother, Heather, manages the front of the house in the dining hall.  
 
Elliott Exton ’11, Matthews House
Elliot graduated from LCS in 2011 and served as a School Life Representative during his senior year at The Grove.  He graduated from Western University with a Bachelor of Science, double major in biology and medical sciences.  Elliott will be helping out Communications & Constituent Relations and the Entrepreneurship Club, leveraging his skills in business that he gained from the Canoe and Paddle.  He will be coaching soccer, slash and softball.
 
Rob Fleming ’06, Rashleigh House 
Rob attended LCS from 2002 - 2006.  He graduated from Thompson Rivers University and has a Bachelor, Tourism Management with a Major in Management and Adventure Studies.  Rob's new adventure will see him working in the Outdoor Education department and coaching volleyball, Alpine and Kayaking come spring.
 
Laura King, Memorial House
Laura graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Educationand a BA Honours degree in child and youth services.  Laura will be assisting the Social Science department and coaching field hockey, snowboard racing and soccer.
 
Kelsie Moffatt, Wadsworth House
Kelsie graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Educationin Physical Education and History.  Kelsie will be working with Ian Armstrong and Zach Barr in Athletics while coaching field hockey, ice hockey and girls' rugby.
 
Sarah Petrie, Moodie House
Sarah graduated from University of Ontario Institute of Technology, with a Bachelor of Education. She has a BA Honours from Trent University in English Literature and History.  Sarah is keen to support the English and Modern Languages departments, and will be helping the debating and Model UN programs. She will also be coaching basketball, fitness, rock climbing and ultimate.  
 
Darren Mossman, Upper Colebrook
Darren graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Applied Health Science, as well as earning his Bachelor of Educationfrom Nipissing University Schulich School of Education. Darren will be assisting with cross country, fitness and rugby teams, the Robotics Club, as well as Learning Strategies.  
 
Rachel Cazabon, Team Lead, Assistant Heads of House 
Rachel is returning to LCS as the Team Leader of the Assistant Heads of House, and will be residing in the Gate House.  She has her Bachelor of Education from St. Thomas University and a BA from the University of New Brunswick.  Rachel's primary responsibilities will be to support the Health Centre and the Day Students Program.  
 
And of course welcome back to:
Jaclyn McMurray, Administrative Assistant, Foundation and Heather Ross, Geography and OE teacher who have both returned from maternity leave.
