Learning Through Experience, Interaction and Reflection

Earlier this month, our students and staff took a break from regular in-class programming to participate in their second Intersession Day of the year. Intersession days are grounded in experiential programming that supports students in each grade and offers unique opportunities to reflect on, question, and engage in activities designed to complement and enrich their learning.

Our Grade 9s explored life habits and practices needed to thrive and the importance of leveraging unique character strengths. Our Grade 10s continued exploring ideas around stewardship, the impact “small acts” can have on our community and prepared a float for the local community Santa Clause parade. Grade 11 students toured Trent—Peterborough’s liberal arts and science university—and joined our Grade 12s who had the opportunity to connect with and learn from our alumni guest speakers during LCS Career Day. Our senior students also considered the concept of creating "positive upward spirals" and reflected on the Grade 12 expedition to Algonquin Park and what they learned from the experience.
