Mindfulness and You

Breathing Life into Communities

A THRIVE Evening with Ali Smith, Atwan Smith and Andres Gonzalez
Tuesday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m., Bryan Jones Theatre

Handling distraction, being able to self-regulate, feeling self-compassion and focusing with ease: these are skills we all want—for our children and for ourselves.  Developing mindfulness and other self-healing practices can help us all to be focused, present, and calm when we need to be—and teaching these practices is a key part of many of our THRIVE well-being initiatives.

To introduce our parents and local community to these practices in action, we are bringing in the best: Ali Smith, Atman Smith and Andres Gonzalvez from the Holistic Life Foundation, based in Baltimore, Maryland. This team of three amazing men have received international attention for their work (even appearing on Oprah!), and they will talk with us, and have us experience how we can "breathe life into our community" through embracing mindfulness and yoga techniques.

Want to go deeper?

Join the Holistic Life Foundation team for a 30-minute meditation session at 6:15 p.m. in the lobby of the Bryan Jones Theatre, on campus, immediately prior to the public talk.

Please register for sessions at lcs.on.ca/MindfulnessAndYou

The public lecture will also be live-streamed on the LCS Facebook page on Tuesday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
