Learn, explore, and connect outdoors through a range of credit courses and enrichment programs. Lakefield College School Summer Academy alumni emerge from LCS with more confidence, new skills, and a greater appreciation for nature and spending time outdoors. Our programs offer a range of opportunities to explore new interests, strengthen leadership skills, and develop critical thinking skills.

Grove Prep for Grade 9
Enrichment Program
In this five-day program, students will spend half of the day engaging in hands-on academic activities designed to re-engage important academic skills and knowledge that will support a successful entry to Grade 9. For the other half of the day, they will enjoy traditional camp activities and fun that allow them to experience sports that may be part of their high school experience as well as recreational outdoor activities.

Culinary Arts Intensive (NEW)
Intensive Program
Students will spend their days learning about the process of food production through authentic hands-on learning experiences. Students will roll up their sleeves and learn introductory knife skills, food preparation techniques, and the basics around creating and presenting new ideas for food with a focus on locally sourced food.

Seed to Table: The Future of Food
Credit Course
This blended program provides the opportunity to learn about food production and eco-farming through hands-on adventures on our school farm. Students plant, nurture, and harvest greens, root vegetables, and more, learning first-hand about the business of running a farm and the value of regenerative agriculture.

Leaders in Training: Designing Your Future
Credit Course
Students will develop leadership skills through work experiences with LCS Summer Academy Programs and simultaneously earn an Ontario Secondary School credit. Leaders in Training combines in-class work with hands-on practical experience to ensure students leave with a deep understanding of how to lead in theory and in practice.

English Language Learners: Outdoor Adventure Course (NEW)
Credit Course
While on campus, mornings and evenings are devoted to the work around the course; afternoons are spent in recreational camp activities on our waterfront and campus, with opportunity to develop or refine skills in the great outdoors, including overnight camping trips. Students earn an Ontario Secondary School course credit in English as a Second Language.

Outdoor Adventure Prep
Enrichment Program
This program is intended for incoming LCS students who are eager to explore or expand their outdoor skills and confidence. Learn or improve upon your canoe skills, enjoy the great outdoors, refine wilderness skills and techniques, and camp in sequentially more challenging and exciting outdoor experiences—all while introducing yourself to the beautiful LCS campus and being outdoors every day!

Dance Intensive
Enrichment Program
This five-day intensive will focus on training intermediate to advanced dancers techniques in Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Contemporary dance. Taught by emerging young choreographers in an open, creative and collaborative environment, dancers will have the opportunity to express themselves through improvisational exercises. The intensive will close with a performance where dancers will share what they’ve learned and created throughout the week.

High School Credit Opportunities
Credit Courses
Earn an Ontario Secondary School credit through online and on-campus experiences. Students will develop strong relationships with their teachers and peers as they experience an innovative blend of enriching learning activities that bring course material to life.

Travel Marine Biology
Credit Course
This program combines online learning, a stay on our LCS campus, and travel to the Huntsman Marine Science Centre, which is a world class research and education facility. The focus of this course is on refining skills related to investigation through fieldwork, observation and inquiry while we explore biological systems and diversity of life, evolution, genetics, animal and plant life.

Extend the Fun!
LCS students who enrol in our summer programs that end on Friday, August 30 and need to stay until New Student Arrival Day, will have the opportunity to stay on campus and enjoy the waterfront campus as well as additional programming for students.
